That\u2019s the sound of \u201cGami Gami\u201d (\u304c\u307f\u304c\u307f) \u2014 a sharp, &#8230;<\/span>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can the Mouth Become Part of the Meaning?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/punipunidictionary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/komorebi_1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/punipunidictionary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/komorebi_1.png 320w, https:\/\/punipunidictionary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/komorebi_1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/punipunidictionary.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/komorebi_1-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This raises an intriguing question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we use an onomatopoeic expression, are we only hearing its sound?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or can the physical experience of saying it also contribute to the impression it creates?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the perspective of Puni Puni Dictionary, <strong>butsu butsu<\/strong> offers an interesting example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The relatively closed, small movement of the mouth seems to fit the image of someone muttering quietly, while <strong>gami gami<\/strong> feels much more outward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not necessarily mean that these expressions developed because of these particular mouth movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the resemblance between <strong>sound, mouth movement, and meaning<\/strong> is fascinating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What About \u201cMu!\u201d?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consider one more expression:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mu!
